Unfortunately, I disagree with the author. We ought to stop being hypocritical. Using Al Gore’s public address for the yr. 2000 election result is inappropriate. The dispute on yr. 2,000 election centers on a poor “punchcard” ballot design, and if a manual recount should be held. Nevertheless, it is a fair competition between Gore and Bush *within the system*.

The supreme court of the United States rejects Al Gore’s request, as best explained below:

None are more conscious of the vital limits on judicial authority than are the members of this Court, and none stand more in admiration of the Constitution’s design to leave the selection of the President to the people, through their legislatures, and to the political sphere. When contending parties invoke the process of the courts, however, it becomes our unsought responsibility to resolve the federal and constitutional issues the judicial system has been forced to confront.

In short, it the people who decide the election result, but not the judicial system.

I know many DPP supporters hold the same point. However, allow me to remind you, the result is only acceptable when *the process is fair*. There are rules that one shall never break! That is why we need a judicial system. Holding a press conference after the campaign deadline and maliciously accusing the running competitor of bribery is not considered a foul?

After living in the states for 20+ years, I see reasons why the US is a great country (even though I disagree some of its foreign policies). I also feel sad where my Mother Land stand as it is today. People need to ask themselves the reasons they kicked the KMT out of the office. Is what the DPP doing acceptable?

It is your life, you choice and your children’s future. I hope your children will not look back and wish their parents have defended the *values* they shall have.
